WHAT DO I DO IF MY FREEZE GUARD DOESN'T COME ON OR THE POWER GOES OUT DURING A FREEZE?

If either of these happen you should immediately reach out to your pool professional. However, if they cannot be reached, here are the basics of what you can do. This is to serve as a guide only and we strongly recommend you call your pool professional. We assume no responsibility and do not suggest you work on your own equipment.

Now that we got the legal out of the way, here's what you can do. Turn off your equipment at the breaker if possible so that nothing comes on after you have drained everything. Next, you need to drain the water out of every piece of equipment so that there is nothing to freeze.

The most common equipment will be the main circulation pump, waterfall pump, the cleaner pump, the heater and the filter. This is not a comprehensive list, but it will cover the average pool setup. The pictures below will give you a good idea of where the drain plugs will be.

The final step would be to cover all your equipment with blankets and tarps. There are some things that are too complex to explain via a web page so even after you have done this there may still be some damage.

If you don't feel comfortable doing any of this please don't attempt it. Give us a call and we can come out and drain everything and put it back together after the freeze. We are here to help and we try our hardest to be there for you even after hours.
